Different Types of Sleeves and Straps

Do you go for full sleeves or spaghetti straps for your wedding gown? Or are you unsure? We’ve made a glossary of different sleeves and straps to help you find the perfect style for your bridal dress.

Sleeves can help create an elegant look for a bride and are a stylish way to covering arms. You can have sleeves in a variety of fabrics like satin or delicate lace. Three-quarter length sleeves are great if you want the modesty of a full sleeve but also want to show off a bit of skin. If you are looking for something subtle, then look out for cap or Bardot styles as they can cover the upper arms and accentuate your profile. Fancy something different? Why not look at sleeves in different shapes like bell or blouse sleeves for a vintage feel.

Don’t fancy sleeves but still want something on the top? Straps are excellent to frame your profile with little amount of fabric. You can have them in different widths and, just like sleeves, straps can come in any sorts of fabric including lace. Plus, thick straps are ideal for covering bra straps should a bride need it.

Neither sleeves nor straps take your fancy? How about going for a strapless dress? It is a classic wedding gown shape and, if you do have a specific strap style in mind, strapless dresses are a good base to insert the strap you want with the help of our excellent staff at Huw Rees Brides.
